January 6 Prosecutor and Critically Injured Police Officer Call on Senators to Vote Against Todd Blanche for Attorney General

Justice Connection today released a video calling on senators to reject Todd Blanche’s Attorney General nomination for his role in white-washing the violence that took place on January 6, 2021.

The video features former D.C. Metropolitan Police Officer Michael Fanone, who was on the front lines on Jan. 6 and suffered traumatic injuries as a result, and former Assistant U.S. Attorney and Senior Trial Counsel for the Capitol Siege Section Mike Gordon, who prosecuted dozens of violent offenders from that day including many of the most notorious defendants.

During Blanche’s tenure as Acting Attorney General, DOJ vacated the seditious conspiracy convictions of Oath Keepers and Proud Boys leaders who organized the riot, and erased all press releases about Jan. 6 defendants from the official DOJ website.

“To erase accountability for the crimes committed that day makes a mockery of our justice system,” Gordon says in the video. “It demonstrates utter contempt for the brave men and women who put their lives on the line to protect our democracy.”

Blanche also signed off on a $1.776 billion slush fund and refused to rule out the possibility of Jan. 6 offenders receiving compensation from the fund or through other means. After assuring lawmakers that the fund was “not moving forward,” Blanche refused to submit a declaration formalizing that decision to a federal court.

“Todd Blanche does not serve justice. He serves criminals who beat up cops and assaulted our democracy,” says Fanone.
