Justice Connection Statement on Attorney General Todd Blanche's Remarks to DOJ Workforce

Stacey Young, executive director of Justice Connection, issued a statement following Attorney General Todd Blanche ‘s remarks to the Justice Department workforce today: 

“Attorney General Blanche rightly highlighted that the backbone of the Justice Department is the career workforce. 

“We agree that this department succeeds when people of different backgrounds, politics and life experiences put the department's mission first. That fiercely arguing about what is the right decision is critical to the department's work.

“Yet under his leadership, hundreds of DOJ's career workforce have been fired because of their backgrounds, their perceived politics, and for fiercely pushing back in conference rooms throughout the country. Thousands more have left because leadership has consistently violated the principles Blanche articulated: prosecuting defendants based only on the facts and the law; holding those who attack law enforcement accountable; and respecting the courts. 

“Attorney General Blanche's platitudes will only resonate if his actions start matching his words."
