Statement on the Senate Impasse Regarding Todd Blanche's AG Nomination

Stacey Young, executive director and founder of Justice Connection, issued the following statement on the Senate Judiciary Committee’s refusal to advance Todd Blanche’s nomination for Attorney General. 

“Todd Blanche's inability to disavow the $1.8 million slush fund and immunity deal is one of many excellent reasons to oppose his nomination.

“Today’s developments show the importance of Congress’s oversight powers. When faced with a nominee who has shown himself to be first and foremost the President’s lawyer rather than the American people’s, senators put their foot down. 

“We need an Attorney General who respects the rule of law and DOJ’s career employees who uphold it.”

Justice Connection has raised alarm over the Trump v. IRS settlement agreement from the start. We spoke about it extensively in the press, projected the words of John Adams on DOJ headquarters to oppose the deal, and published a Substack article explaining how it’s unlawful.
